Case Study - WTA

The Challenge
Prior to using Travelex Global Business Payments (TGBP), the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour issued all tournament prize money in US currency and players would be responsible for their own foreign exchange and money transfers. In addition, the WTA were managing payments to more than 2,000 players from over 91 countries without an automated payment system, which meant they were spending time and effort processing players payments.
So, in 2006 Sony Ericsson WTA decided it needed a payment solution that enabled them to disburse players winnings promptly in their currency choice.
Sony Ericsson WTA’s Objectives
- Implement a payments solution capable of managing all of WTA’s international payments activity
- To provide tournament players fast access to their prize money in their preferred currency
