We are proud of our history. Our global business payments solutions are based upon years of experience and extensive market knowledge stretching back to 1972 when we opened our first retail branch in London.

From those early days, Travelex has grown from an innovative bureau de change operation into a vibrant, global business operating in 37 countries and employing more than 6000 people.

Our 2001 acquisition of Thomas Cook Financial Services confirmed our reputation as a leading provider of international payment solutions to businesses large and small around the world.

With a worldwide network, in-country payment specialists and leading edge technologies, we ensure fast, accurate and secure payment delivery from 35,000 businesses and 750 financial institutions to one million beneficiaries around the globe.

Travelex also provides outsourced travel money to banks, travel agencies and other financial institutions. Our retail division sells premium products and services to business and leisure travellers through nearly 700 branches globally.

The Travelex Group, headquartered in London, is privately owned by Apax Partners (57%) Lloyd Dorfman (28%) and Standard Chartered Bank (7%), with the remaining shares held by management. For the year ending 31/12/05 the Group’s turnover was £526m and its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation were £50m.
